Kinney Engineering provided an update to the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) of the DOT Tetlin-Ft. Knox Corridor Study on May 16. Their safety analysis predicts accidents will increase in 2024 when the large ore trucks begin hauling gold ore 240 miles from the Manh Choh mine in Tetlin to Kinross’s Fort Knox mill. At the next TAC meeting in July, an in-depth analysis of the impact of the ore trucks on bridges along the route is expected.
