The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) announced on October 31, 2024, that it will be enforcing weight limits (know as “load posting”) both of the bridges at MP 346 of the Richardson Highway. These bridges cross the Chena Flood Control Project. After a year of weigh station data that shows the Black Gold Transport ore trucks have exceeded the 80-ton threshold over 5,000 times, DOT&PF has finally decided to take action to protect the bridge infrastructure.
